Grass Fed or Grain Finished

Like our grapevines, Stewart Ranch cattle thrive on Napa Valley’s world-famous soil. The cool coastal breezes and mild temperatures in our area are ideal for the Belted Galloway breed, keeping them comfortable and well-fed throughout the year. The herd grazes and grows naturally with no additional hormones or steroids. Instead of pushing them to finish early, we let the cattle mature and finish at their own pace.

All our beef is dry aged between 14 and 21 days. Dry-aging produces superior taste and tenderness in the meat, which is why the finest steakhouses in the world use this method. Most “aged” grocery store meats are wet-aged, which is a completely different chemical process and result.

Some people prefer the taste of a grain-finished steer to one that is 100% grass-fed, and so we offer both options. For our grain-finished meat, the cattle enjoy a high-quality, non-GMO grain for 90 to 120 days before processing.

Both grass-finished and grain-finished beef are available in whole, halves, or quarters.

Taste the difference – it’s worth the wait.
